Tomorrow brings the anticipated release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the remake of the PlayStation 2’s Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.
If the reviews are anything to go by, then we’re in for a treat, as critics have said that it’s a faithful remake of the 2004 PS2 masterpiece, successfully bringing the franchise back to life.
It’s been a decade since the last new Metal Gear Solid game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (no, we’re not counting 2018’s Metal Gear Survive). Hideo Kojima, creator of the series, moved on after a messy divorce from Konami and has released two Death Stranding titles since.
Konami appears to be prepping their developers, and audiences, for a new Metal Gear Solid game without Kojima, but for now, this remake is the first bit of good news Metal Gear Solid fans have had in quite some time.
If you’re playing on PC, however, you may be disappointed with the graphics settings.
As spotted on X, formerly known as Twitter, by NikTek, the Snake Eater remake is unfortunately capped at a maximum of 60 FPS on PC. You also need to run the game in borderless window mode to achieve the highest possible graphical settings.
To say that this is still happening to PC games in 2025 is, to say the least, disappointing. Thankfully, modders are already on the case.
Lyall released a mod, entitled MGSDeltaFix v0.0.1, that tackles this very issue. Not only does it unlock the game’s frame rate to go above 60 FPS, but it also enables ultrawide support. To say that fans have been thrilled with this quick turnaround time on the mod is an understatement.
One possible reason the game is locked to 60 FPS without mods is that the original game’s HD update is also locked at 60 FPS. Yes, the game received an impressive visual update with Unreal Engine 5, but for the most part, it’s still based on the original code under the hood. It would have been an even greater undertaking to unlock the game’s framerate. Then again, it’s 2025, and PC games shouldn’t be locked at just 60 FPS.
