Master Collection Vol. 2 Finally Gets New Update From Konami

    September 26, 20253 Mins Read

Konami has finally provided fans with new information on Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. Back in 2023, Konami let loose Vol. 1 of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection which contained many of the earliest games in the series ported to modern platforms for the first time. Not long after its launch, Konami verified that a second Master Collection would be coming at a later date and would presumably contain the rest of the Metal Gear games not included in the first volume. While news on Vol. 2 has since been pretty much nowhere to be found, this silence has now come to an end.

Speaking at Tokyo Game Show (via @Kuwabara357), Konami’s Noriaki Okamura gave a short update on what’s happening behind the scenes with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. In short, Okamura confirmed that this collection is still in the works, and that it’s “properly” being worked on. Despite this, more information on when exactly it might arrive wasn’t able to be provided at this time.

“We’ve been working on it properly while also producing Metal Gear Solid Delta,” Okamura said via translation. “At the right time, we’d like to share with you all not only about its progress but also the direction going forward. I’m sorry, it feels like I always have to say this… but please wait just a little longer. How long ‘a little longer’ actually means… well, it’s hard to say. But the project is moving forward properly, and we believe it’s shaping up to be something enjoyable. So please wait just a bit more, more information is coming.”

Outside of the mere existence of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, Konami hasn’t said anything about what this bundle will include. Fans have naturally assumed that the three main games that should be packed in would be Metal Gear Solid: Peace Maker, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Metal Gear Solid 4, in particular, coming to new platforms is something that has been loudly requested for over a decade. Currently, the final game chronologically in the Metal Gear saga has been stranded on PS3 since its arrival in 2008. This has made it a very difficult game to go back and play.

Hopefully, we’ll end up hearing something more substantial on Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 relatively soon. It seems feasible that this follow-up collection could arrive at some point in 2026, but for now, an official launch window of any sort hasn’t been provided.
