Major energy supplier launches cheapest tariff that can give you half-price electricity for 8 HOURS every Sunday

    September 14, 20252 Mins Read

A MAJOR energy supplier has launched cheap tariffs that will enable homeowners to save half price on electricity for eight hours every Sunday.

This provides a perfect opportunity to charge up the electronics, catch up on TV shows and prepare meals each week.

New and existing customers of British Gas will be able to save on their electricity bills through the PeakSave Sunday scheme that has launched.

It offers customers a smart meter along with half-price electricity between 11am and 4pm on any of their tariffs.

British Gas reports to have already paid over £30 million to more than one million of their customers through the scheme.

Current PeakSave customers will continue to receive the half-price electricity on Sundays without needing to opt-in.

Eligible customers will also be emailed to opt in and take part in the scheme.

Savings will then appear as credit on energy bills.

The Super Sunday Tariff is said to be the cheapest fixed tariff available from British Gas, and any large energy supplier.

This allows existing customers who have a smart meter to unlock further savings.

Those with a smart meter get extended half-price electricity on Sundays, which is available between 9am and 5pm.

It comes as renewable energy has become increasingly available with more windy and sunny conditions.

The PeakSave scheme was launched to reward customers for having better energy use, whilst supporting greener energy supplies.

After opting into the scheme, homeowners will be made aware of PeakSave Green Flex events, which are periods when there is likely to be lots of renewable energy being used.

They will get up to a day to prepare for running the dishwasher, washing machine or vacuum, which will be used on half-price electricity.

As British Gas states on its website: “By moving your electricity use to when there’s likely to be lots of renewable energy around, you’re saving money and helping the planet.

    “It’s a win-win!”

After each event, half of what has been spent on an account will be sent back and the payment will show up as ‘PeakSave Green Flex Credit’ on the next bill or online statement.
