Macron, Akhannouch International Agricultural Fair in Paris

    February 22, 20252 Mins Read

Rabat – Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch attended the inauguration of the 2025 International Agricultural Fair (SIA) on Saturday morning in Paris, alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.

The event, which runs from February 22 to March 2, saw the two leaders cut the ribbon, marking the official opening of the fair.

Morocco is the first foreign country to be named guest of honor at the SIA, an honor that highlighting the strong Franco-Moroccan partnership. The Moroccan delegation at the event was led by Akhannouch and included key figures such as Ahmed El Bouari, Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, and Samira Sitail, Morocco’s Ambassador to Paris.

The delegation also included prominent agricultural sector operators and several members of the French government.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Prime Minister Akhannouch signed the SIA guestbook, further cementing Morocco’s central role in this year’s event.

This recognition of Morocco highlight the country’s growing importance on the global agricultural stage.

As the North African kingdom has continues to assert itself as  a regional and continental model for sustainable and intelligent agriculture, its celebration at the SIA is a testament to its agricultural achievements.

The Moroccan pavilion at the fair, covering 476 m², will showcase the country’s agricultural diversity and innovation. The 61st edition of the SIA is expected to attract over 600,000 visitors, with approximately 4,000 animals on display and 1,000 exhibitors spread across 16 hectares and 9 pavilions.

The spotlight on Morocco at the SIA also reflects the deeper and more comprehensive relationship between the two nations, which extends beyond trade to address key challenges such as food security, water management, and agricultural innovation.

Looking ahead, the honor bestowed on Morocco at the SIA will be reciprocated in April, when France will be the guest of honor at the International Agricultural Fair in Meknès, Morocco.

This exchange highlights the ongoing collaboration between the two countries in addressing global agricultural and environmental issues.

The SIA’s celebration of Morocco reflects the country’s important role in shaping the future of agriculture, not only in the region but also on the global stage.
