Konami Survey Hints at Possible Future Metal Gear Game Remakes

    September 21, 20253 Mins Read

Konami looks to be turning to fans for guidance on the future of the Metal Gear franchise. A newly-surfaced Konami survey has hinted that following Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, more remakes of prior series entries could be on the way.

Just last month, Konami released Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a high-profile remake of 2004’s critically-acclaimed Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Despite some complaints on the technical side, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater sold one million copies on launch day and has been received well overall, reaffirming the appetite for modernized takes of Hideo Kojima’s iconic stealth action franchise. With the Snake Eater remake now out in the wild, attention has naturally shifted towards what Konami plans to do in the future.

Next week, Konami’s Tokyo Game Show 2025 lineup will include a Metal Gear Solid Production Hotline livestream to showcase the new Fox Hunt multiplayer mode for the Snake Eater remake. Following this broadcast, Konami will distribute a survey that’ll seek opinions from viewers. Twitter user Metal Gear Network managed to procure the survey questions and highlighted one very interesting example in a recent tweet. This question presents participants with a list of Metal Gear games and asks them to select all the series entries that they “would like to see remade.”

Metal Gear Games That Konami May Remake in the Future

    • Metal Gear
    • Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
    • Metal Gear Solid
    • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
    • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
    • Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
    • Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes
    • Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

The eight-strong list of answers includes Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Interestingly, 2008’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots also appears on the list, even though it’s been locked to the PS3 for 17 years and counting. Notably absent here is the PlatinumGames-developed Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, as well as the woefully-received Metal Gear Survive.

Evidently, the inclusion of so many options suggests Konami is evaluating remakes across most of the entire Metal Gear series timeline, and not just of beloved entries like Guns of the Patriots and Sons of Liberty. Metal Gear Solid 5‘s presence is a bit odd, though, given that Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain launched relatively recently — 2014 and 2015, respectively. Still, the success of the Snake Eater remake signals a clear rejuvenation in interest surrounding the Metal Gear franchise, and fans will likely have a lot to look forward to in the coming years, including the much-awaited Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2.
