Development on Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is still in progress, according to game producer Noriaki Okamura during a panel hosted by Konami at Tokyo Game Show 2025. Okamura said that, since Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 was given a number in its title, it is only natural for fans to expect a second compilation.
Originally launched in October 2023, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 contains modern ports of the first three Metal Gear Solid titles, along with Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, and Snake’s Revenge. Each featured title comes bundled with digital content that covers its story and main characters, and the compilation also includes two digital graphic novels as videos for fans to enjoy. Even though the next Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection volume is still in active development, Konami asked Metal Gear fans for their input ahead of the Tokyo Game Show via an online survey.
Amid a busy Tokyo Game Show 2025 lineup for Konami, the studio responded to a question often asked by Metal Gear fans concerning the state of the Master Collection. As reported by VGC and translated by Twitter user Kuwabara357, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is still some time away from a potential release. Okamura briefly mentioned the compilation during the Metal Gear Production Hotline panel at TGS, stating that it is natural for fans to expect a second Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, given that the first one was titled “Vol. 1” by Konami. However, Okamura asked fans to “wait a little longer” for more news about the project’s progress.
One of the more challenging hurdles that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 potentially faces is porting Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots from the PS3 to modern platforms. Although MGS4 is considered one of the best entries in the Metal Gear Solid series, it was created with the PS3’s Cell processor in mind, making potential ports to other systems notoriously difficult to manage. Okamura stated that Konami had been working on Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 while production of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was underway.
Konami did not state when Metal Gear could expect more news about Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. Although fans have taken great strides in making PS3 game emulation possible on the PS5, it remains to be seen what Konami will do for the upcoming volume.
