QUINCY (WGEM) – John Wood Community College hosted an open house on Monday for its agricultural center in Baylis.
The event was an opportunity to learn more about JWCC’s agricultural programs.
Attendees got a tour of the center, and a chance to meet teachers and learn more about the admissions process.
Organizers said a key part of Monday’s event was giving people an opportunity to learn about career options.
JWCC Ag Sciences Complex Director Jody Heavner said, “Certainly, that’s our emphasis, is building the next generation of employees, the next generation of business owners, and through our internship programs, hoping to continue to build those relationships with industry partners and giving our students new opportunities.”
“Our students can follow a pathway through agricultural business, animal science, we even have a pathway for students interested in conservation and natural resources, and this today gives us an opportunity to share those with the students who come and have questions, but we are definitely looking at adding more curriculum over the next few years, and we’re really excited about where the program is headed,” she said.
According to JWCC officials, events like these offer insight on how the school can support educational goals.
