Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) recently concluded a research collaboration with Kobe College, Japan through the KC-IUB Winter Research Camp 2025. The seven-day programme, held from February 7 to 13, focused on agricultural research in the farming communities of Manikganj and Rajshahi.
Students from both institutions conducted field research examining local food and agricultural practices, employing socio-scientific methods to collect and analyze data. The research specifically focused on understanding the role of agriculture within the social and cultural context of these farming communities.
The programme provided participants with practical research experience while facilitating meaningful academic exchange between the two institutions. Through their fieldwork, students gained firsthand exposure to agricultural practices and research methodologies, while developing cross-cultural collaboration skills.
At the camp’s conclusion, participating students presented their findings through comprehensive research reports and exhibitions. These presentations demonstrated the depth of their field research and provided valuable insights into local agricultural systems and practices.
This winter camp marks the first initiative under the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between IUB and Kobe College.
