In 2004, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima turned back the clock with Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, a previously untold Cold War story starring Big Boss, the clone father of franchise star Solid Snake. Next month, Konami is releasing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of the original game. However, Kojima has no interest in playing the new version of one of his most famous titles.
During an interview with Ssense, Kojima was asked whether he would play Metal Gear Solid Delta, and he replied with laughter before adding “No, I won’t.”
Kojima has never publicly spoken about the events that made him leave Konami in 2015 after spending most of his career making games for the company. Last year, Metal Gear Solid Delta producer Noriaki Okamura shared his admiration for Kojima as well as his desire to work with him on the MGS franchise in the future. But for now, Kojima’s upcoming game Physint may be the closest thing to getting another MGS-like game from the creator.
Konami recently disclosed that Metal Gear Solid Delta will bring back Snake Eater’s goofy secret theater and introduce a new online mode called Fox Hunt. The publisher also released an early look at Metal Gear Solid Delta’s revamped opening sequence, which includes a new version of the game’s signature song. Okamura also expressed doubts about remaking the first Metal Gear Solid game in the future.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on August 28.
