ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Georgia is among the first selected for the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Auditor Training (EAT) Grant Program, the agency says.
The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority was awarded $1,998,481 to establish a new collaborative initiative.
The Southeast Commercial Energy Auditor Collaborative Partnership is designed to provide Georgians with the necessary knowledge to earn commercial building energy auditor certifications.
According to the DOE, energy audits help identify ways to reduce energy usage, promote energy efficiency and offer energy savings to homes and businesses.
The EAT Program is part of the DOE’s efforts to help states, territories and the District of Columbia invest in clean energy.
The Georgia initiative represents a collaborative partnership between the U.S. Virgin Islands, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee, the agency says.
This comes as the Biden-Harris administration announced the investment of $27.98 million in 15 State Energy Offices to catalyze the clean energy workforce, according to the DOE.
This project is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America Agenda, funded under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed in 2021.
