From K-Pop to Metal: What Your Spotify Wrapped Says About Where You Should Travel in 2026

    December 6, 20254 Mins Read

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – At the year-end, about 713 million active Spotify users browsed through Spotify Wrapped, which depicts a flashback of the music that has filled the users’ days over the last year. Not only about music choices, but its results can also recommend destinations for the 2026 journey.

First launched under the name Year in Music in 2015, Spotify Wrapped shows how specific music choices reflect someone’s happy and challenging moments. From these results, it can also suggest that certain destinations might bring unexpected or memorable experiences.

Here are travel destination recommendations from the Spotify Wrapped results, as reported by Travel and Leisure Asia.

    1. Reggaeton

If Spotify Wrapped heavily leans towards reggaetn, San Juan, Puerto Rico is the right choice. This music was born in the Caribbean, shaped in the barrio, and honed in clubs where bass dominates. Especially in the La Perla area, travelers can hear it from car windows in Condado, echoing in beach bars in Isla Verde, and pulsating on late-night dance floors throughout the city.

    2. K-Pop

Clearly, if K-Pop tops the list in Spotify Wrapped, this is a reason for the next journey to Seoul, South Korea. Apart from visiting the agencies’ offices that gave birth to globally rising K-pop idols, such as HYBE, SM Entertainment, and YG Entertainment, travelers can also visit themed locations and real-life sites that appear in K-Pop media, such as music videos and reality shows.

K-Star Road traces this genre through outdoor installations, while HiKR Ground offers a more immersive and technology-based approach to contemporary pop culture. Some local tour operators also offer tours focusing on K-Pop and can be tailored to specific groups or labels.

    3. Country

For country music fans, a visit to Nashville, Tennessee, United States is a must. Travelers can explore the Ryman Auditorium and Grand Ole Opry, where live country music broadcasts, as well as the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the National Museum of African American Music. This includes enjoying a series of songwriter at Bluebird Cafe, before heading to The Listening Room and 3rd & Lindsley, which feature natural talents every night.

    4. R&B

Atlanta, Georgia is the perfect destination to explore the R&B genre. Starting from the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame, tracing the streets where legends left their mark. Time your visit during festivals such as ONE Musicfest featuring the city’s contemporary R&B. Discover Atlanta has announced that the Grammy Music Museum at the Recording Academy will soon be another must-visit tourist attraction in 2026.

    5. Trance

Trance is a form of electronic music that developed in Europe in the early 1990s. One of the centers of this music’s development is in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. There is even a subgenre called Dutch Trance. For fans of this music, don’t miss the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) and the Amsterdam Trance Event, which will take place at the popular Panama club during ADE in 2026.

    6. New Age

Ubud, Bali, is the right choice for New Age music lovers. This inland city is characterized by tranquility, misty rice fields, and a slow spiritual rhythm that reflects the meditative appeal of the ambient sound landscape. Some tourist destinations in this city include the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, where hundreds of monkeys roam freely, and watching traditional Balinese dance and music shows at Puri Ubud.

    7. Heavy Metal

Helsinki, Finland is one of the capitals of metal music, even with more heavy metal bands per capita than any other country. The Tuska Festival has been an attraction for metal music fans for over 20 years. Another major festival is the Metal Hellsinki Festival, which takes place at the end of August. Also, visit The Riff, a center for local metalheads.
