Foundation graduates 95 youths in digital agricultural skills in Kano

    June 30, 20252 Mins Read

The first batch of 95 beneficiaries of the AA Zaura Foundation has successfully completed an intensive training program in digital agricultural entrepreneurship aimed at enhancing their skills in modern technology.

The training leveraged artificial intelligence and digital applications in agro-production, marketing, and value-chain management to empower youths with the tools to boost agricultural productivity and reduce unemployment in Kano State.

The youths were trained by the London Academy Business School (LABS) at the University of Sunderland, UK, with funding from AA Zaura Foundation International. They were awarded diploma certificates at a graduation ceremony held over the weekend in Kano.

Speaking during the event, Abdulsalam Abdulkarim, founder of AA Zaura Foundation International, emphasized that the program is designed to enable youths to create opportunities rather than wait for them.

He explained that the initiative empowers graduates to build viable agri-tech businesses, attract investments, and create jobs by utilizing digital tools to transform agriculture, scale up productivity, and address real-world challenges.

“The goal is to lead agriculture from soil to screen and connect local markets to the global marketplace,” Abdulkarim said.

He called on the government to provide an enabling environment through supportive policies, investments, mentorship, and infrastructure, which would help integrate youths into larger value chains and drive Nigeria’s agricultural and technological entrepreneurship resurgence.

Reaffirming the foundation’s commitment to youth empowerment and inclusive prosperity, Abdulkarim urged the graduates to apply the knowledge acquired wisely to lead and feed communities digitally for sustainable development.

Earlier, Dr. Abdullahi Usman, Country Director of LABS, highlighted the need for digital entrepreneurship training in today’s evolving business landscape.

He noted that the programme, which integrates artificial intelligence and digital entrepreneurship, is the first of its kind carefully designed to foster a mindset change essential for entrepreneurial success.

Dr. Usman also expressed appreciation to LABS, the Federal Ministry of Education, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for their support. He described the training as comprehensive, with hands-on practical sessions.

He added that the diploma certificates awarded are nationally recognized and also accepted in the UK, where they can be used to gain admission into degree programmes.
