Death metal singer Ignacia Fernández wins Miss World Chile pageant with epic performance

    November 13, 20252 Mins Read

Ignacia Fernández, who delivered death metal at the Miss World Chile pageant, has been crowned as winner of the competition.

The 27-year-old contestant went viral in recent days for her performance at the competition, making the daring decision to perform a death metal track as part of the talent segment. She is the frontwoman of a band called Decessus, and was joined by her guitarist, Carlos Palma, for the slot.

Explaining why she opted to bring her love of death metal and her crushing vocals to the pageant stage, she wrote on Instagram: “Metal has been a fundamental part of who I am as a person and in my life: a refuge, a source of strength and purpose.”

“Being able to express it on stage at Chilevision and Miss Mundo Chile was an opportunity I deeply value,” she added. It was a great experience to break down barriers on open television, inspire, be real with it, and show that you don’t have to fear the prejudices of others.”

Now, it has been confirmed that Fernández did enough to impress judges, and has been crowned as the winner of the entire competition, and given the title Miss World Chile 2025.

With the win, she will now move on to take part in the global Miss World competition, which will be held next year.

Acknowledging the victory over the weekend, Fernández said that she “couldn’t be happier or more grateful” to be the winner of the Miss World Chile pageant, and shared an official photo of her as Miss World Chile 2025.

“I’m taking on this beautiful challenge with all my energy and heart, ready to represent my country in the best way possible. I promise to give it my all, with passion, hard work, and purpose,” she added.

“Thank you for the worldwide recognition of my singing, a piece of my soul that inspires me to keep growing and dreaming big. Let’s go, Chile… for that crown!”

Decessus was founded by Fernández in 2020, and their most recent single is called ‘Dark Flames’, which arrived in September. Other members include drummer Martín Fénix and bassist Jaime Pepe, and Blabbermouth reports that the band have previously opened for the likes of Insomnium, Jinjer, and Epica.
