After a months-long suspension, Cal Fire announced that North Bay residents can resume burning with proper permits beginning Monday.
The notice applies to Napa and Sonoma counties and Marin, Solano, Colusa, Lake and Yolo counties, officials said in a Friday news release, and allows those with current and valid agricultural and residential burn permits to resume burning on approved burn days.
Burning was prohibited in mid-June to reduce wildfire risk during peak fire season, officials said.
Cal Fire officials are reminding residents to verify it is a permissive burn day before conducting any burns and follow all safety requirements. Agricultural burns will need to be inspected by Cal Fire before ignition until the end of peak fire season, officials said.
If a fire escapes control, property owners can be found criminally and civilly liable.
For additional information on burn days, residents are urged to contact their local air quality management districts.
