A BUS driver in Hong Kong was hailed a hero after managing to bring his vehicle safely to a stop despite being impaled by a 1.5m metal rod, China Press reported.

The incident happened at 5pm on Sep 15, along the Tsing Long Highway when the rod fell off a lorry in front, pierced the windscreen and struck the 65-year-old bus driver.

Despite the severe injury, he remained calm and slowly steered the vehicle to the roadside.

His condition is stable at the hospital.

The incident has drawn praise online, with many netizens commending the driver’s professionalism in protecting his passengers.

    > Burdened with immense pressure from his parents to get married, a man in China developed panic disorder, China Press reported.

The 27-year-old from Jiangsu province spent his years focusing on building his business.

Worried about his future, his parents repeatedly arranged blind dates for him.

Over the past three years, he went on about 20 blind dates, but none of them worked out.

The repeated failures left him under immense stress but his parents insisted their only child marry as soon as possible.

Last year, the man began suffering sudden episodes of palpitations, chest tightness, shortness of breath, dizziness and numbness in his hands.

As his symptoms worsened, with attacks occurring two to three times a day and disrupting his work and daily life, he sought medical help at hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with panic disorder, a form of acute anxiety.
