Azerbaijan increases agricultural production 1.5% in 2024
BAKU. Jan 21 (Interfax) – Agricultural production in Azerbaijan in monetary terms totaled 12.995 billion manat in 2024, up 1.5% compared to 2023, the country’s State Statistics Committee said.
Production of livestock products grew 1.7% to 6.833 million manat while crop production rose 1.1% to 6.162 million manat.
The country produced 659,00 tonnes of meat last year, up 1.7%, 2.299 million tonnes of milk, up 0.6%, 2.3 billion eggs, up 5.1%, 14,800 tonnes of wool, down 2.2%, and 239,400 tonnes of silk products, down 32.9%.
An average of 1,834 kg of milk was obtained from each cow and buffalo in 2024 compared to 1,746 kg in 2023.
According to preliminary data from the State Statistics Committee, as of January 1, 2025, the country had 6.85 million sheep and goats and 2.46 million head of cattle, including 1.223 million cows and buffaloes which accounted for 49.7% of the total cattle population.
Poultry farms in Azerbaijan produced 82,300 tonnes of poultry meat in live weight and 1.149 billion eggs last year. The total poultry population stood at 12.092 million, with an average productivity of 248 eggs per laying hen.
During the reporting period, the country harvested 3.277 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops, up 0.9% compared to 2023, 1.839 million tonnes of vegetables (up 0.7%), 1.318 million tonnes of fruit and berries (up 4.5%), 927,400 tonnes of potatoes (down 8.2%), 490,600 tonnes of melons (up 11.9%), 307,000 tonnes of cotton (up 11.1%), 289,100 tonnes of sugar beet (up 31.5%), 205,100 tonnes of grapes (down 8.6%), 31,200 tonnes of sunflower seeds (up 6.6%), 6,500 tonnes of tobacco (up 2.2%) and 1,100 tonnes of green tea leaves (down 4.8%).
