Avoid These 3 Coca-Cola Brands Recalled for Metal Contamination

    October 22, 20252 Mins Read

The FDA has issued a Coca-Cola recall that has pulled three popular brands of soda from select stores due to possible metal contamination. The cans in question include classic Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, and Sprite that were produced from Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, LLC, a facility that is based in Texas. While the majority of these affected cans were likely sold in Texas, it’s unclear if they might have been distributed outside of the state. This recall, issued on October 20, is classified as a Class II, which the FDA says are for products that “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.”

Coca-Cola recall impacts three popular sodas

Here is the list of Coca-Cola brands that have pulled due to the FDA recall along with the serial numbers for the products.

    • Coca-Cola Zero Sugar (12-oz. cans in 12 pack)

      • Serial Number – 49000042559 / FEB0226MAA

    • Coca-Cola Zero Sugar (12-oz. cans in 35 pack)

      • Serial Number – 49000058499 / FEB0226MAA

    • Coca-Cola (12-oz. can in 24 pack)

      • Serial Number – 49000012781 / JUN2926MAA

    • Coca-Cola (12-oz. can in 35 pack)

      • Serial Number – 49000058468 / JUN2926MAA

    • Sprite (12-oz. can in 35 pack)

      • Serial Number – 4900058482 / JUN2926MAA

    • Sprite (12-oz. can in 12 pack)

      • Serial Number 1 – 4900028928 / JUN2926MAA

      • Serial Number 2 – 4900028928 / JUN3026MAB

In total, more than 4,000 cans of Coca-Cola, Coke Zero, and Sprite have been impacted by the recall, which was voluntarily initiated by Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, LLC.

Consumers who believe that they have purchased a can of the recalled sodas are recommended not to drink them and to dispose of them in a way that it cannot be accidentally ingested by another person, pets, or wildlife. They can also return them at their place of purchase for a full refund.

In the past, Coca-Cola has experimented with infusing its soda with coffee and adding alcohol to the beverage in Japan in a drink called Chu-Hi.
