BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – It has been nearly a week since devastating fires impacted the western part of the state.
State emergency and forestry departments are still collecting data to see how much was lost.
North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said producers and landowners should look into federal programs and state programs for assistance.
At the state level, he said the AG Department is working on programs to help.
He said The Hay Hotline for rancher relief is being utilized and over 100 people have registered.
“Even for the producers and landowners that are adjacent to the fires that didn’t even necessarily get burnt out, the smoke inhalation, all of the critical issues that are happening to people and livestock with health concerns, we just tell people to continue to work with your vet monitor, document,” said Goehring.
He said a lot of the row crops in the northwest have been harvested, but some stored grain supplies burned.
