The 2025 Agricultural Water Management Fund is now accepting applications. This fund aims to support agricultural producers and local governments in developing effective water management projects.
Naomi Paley, Manager of Drainage Extension at the Water Security Agency, explains that qualified applicants can receive up to $95,000 per project through a cost-sharing approach across three funding streams:
- On-Farm Qualified Person Support: This stream provides rebates for hiring technical experts to guide project management, technical design, and other essential tasks.
- Technical Design Solutions Support: Funding for engineering and technical design of the project.
- Mitigation and Rehabilitation Support: Financial assistance for construction costs.
“The Agricultural Water Management Fund promotes responsible and sustainable water management in Saskatchewan,” said Daryl Harrison, Minister Responsible for the Water Security Agency. “Saskatchewan producers are excellent stewards of the land, and supporting our agricultural sector with programs like this contributes to a growing and vibrant province.”
Since 2022, the fund has provided over $2 million to support 93 projects across the province, aiding in drainage approvals that enhance environmental stewardship and agricultural growth.
Eligible applicants include landowners, leaseholders, and renters involved in agricultural production in Saskatchewan. Rural municipalities, conservation and development authorities, individual producers, and irrigation districts are all encouraged to apply.
Applications are available at wsask.ca and must be submitted by April 30th.
