Chafer Machinery, the North Lincolnshire company that designs and manufacturers crop sprayers, applicators and de-icers, has called in administrators, TheBusinessDesk.com understands.
On Friday (October 10), we exclusively reported that Chafer, which can trace its roots back to 1901, had filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.
A source has since told us that administrators from Leonard Curtis took control of Chafer at 11am on Friday morning.
A statement on Chafer’s website reads: “Chafer Machinery are currently seeking professional financial advice over the future of the business. Whilst we undertake this process we would request customers and suppliers with urgent queries please contact Leonard Curtis.”
In its latest available accounts, made up to September 30 2024, Chafer employed 43 people and held net assets of over £1.6m. At the time, it owed creditors over £2.4m.
Leonard Curtis has been contacted for a statement.
