An agricultural business has officially confirmed the takeover of a new site in Newark.
Nottingham-based machinery distributor Henton and Chattell has now acquired Farmstar Ltd’s depot on Hawton Lane, with the handover taking place on July 25.
The acquisition marks the next stage in Henton and Chattell’s growth strategy as it aims to strengthen its presence in the agricultural, groundcare, and garden machinery sectors across the East Midlands.

Heads of Terms were signed for the site in January this year, and now the Newark depot will be fully integrated into Henton and Chattell’s operations.
All existing staff will be retained, and the business has promised customers that there will be a professional transition with minimal disruption to service.
Peter Chaloner, managing director of Henton and Chattell, said: “We are incredibly pleased to officially welcome the Newark team and customers into the Henton and Chattell family.
“This is a significant milestone for our business, and the Newark site provides us with a strong platform to further expand our reach and deliver an even broader range of products and services in the region.
“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Sam Davies, Managing Director of Farmstar Ltd, whose constructive and collaborative approach has helped ensure a smooth and positive transition for all parties involved.”

The Newark branch will now offer access to Henton and Chattell’s extensive range, including leading brands such as Kubota, Baroness, Trimax, EGO, Cobra, Stihl and Yamaha.
The company added that investing in the site would ensure “long-term growth, product availability, and expert support for agricultural and groundcare customers” across Nottinghamshire and beyond.
