Agricultural building to be built on Earls Colne farmland

    November 5, 20252 Mins Read

An application was submitted in August, outlining plans for the erection of a woodchip and log store on land east of Coggeshall Road in Earls Colne.

The site features a section of field, which is currently farmed by the applicant, with residential properties and gardens located to the southeast.

The plans also include storage for agricultural vehicle and machinery, as well as office space.

Approval was granted last week by the district council.

The development at White Gates Farm will see the construction of a functional, rectangular building “designed to meet practical requirements while fitting in with its rural surroundings”.

In a planning statement, a spokesperson said: “The building will be constructed using durable materials suited to the rural environment.

“Powder coated metal cladding will provide a weather-resistant finish, while fair-faced blockwork and brickwork will add strength and a traditional appearance.

“Roller shutters will ensure secure and easy access. The final choice of colours will prioritise neutral or earthy tones to help the building blend into the landscape.

“The design has been kept simple and practical, reflecting the character of traditional agricultural buildings. This ensures the development will fit in with its countryside location without being intrusive.”

In a decision report, the council stated the works must be completed within a three year period.

Public Notice Portal is the simplest way to find out about new notices in your neighbourhood, created by some of the country’s biggest and most trusted local newspapers, in conjunction with Google.

The government has launched a consultation on licensing reform which includes a proposal to remove the statutory requirement for alcohol licensing notices to be advertised in print local papers. This would affect people’s “right to know”, the local news media sector says.

We would value your opinion on this by completing this short survey.
