    October 7, 20251 Min Read

Emergency services were called shortly before 4.30am today (Tuesday) to reports of approximately 25 tonnes of mixed scrap metal on fire in Birmingham.

After extinguishing the blaze, which is believed to have been caused accidentally, emergency services reported no casualties or injuries. Seven screws left the scene with three remaining in attendance.

Police advise residents that traffic in the area could be affected while crews continue to deal with the aftermath.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “Shortly before 4.30am on Tuesday, we responded to Park Road, Winson Green, Birmingham.

“At the height of the incident, 10 fire engines crewed by around 50 firefighters were in attendance at a fire involving approximately 25 tonnes of mixed scrap metal.

“Crews extinguished the fire, believed to have started accidentally. Firefighters were supported by drone operations. There was no fire spread to neighbouring properties and no impact to a nearby railway line.

“There were no casualties or injuries. Police colleagues supported with traffic management.

“Three fire engines remain in attendance.”
