tock Market today | Share Market Highlights – Find here all the highlights related to Sensex, Nifty, BSE, NSE, share prices and Indian stock markets for 25th February 2026.
India’s equity benchmarks closed marginally higher on Wednesday, as IT stocks clawed back some of the previous session’s losses and as metals also rose, overpowering a drop in index heavyweight Reliance and state-owned lenders.
The Nifty 50 rose 0.23% to 25,482.50 and the BSE Sensex added 0.06% to 82,276.07. Both indexes advanced about 0.9% earlier in the session, following a more than 1% fall on Tuesday.
The IT index advanced 1.6% after a 4.7% fall a day earlier. Rapid developments in AI are spurring questions about the long-term outlook for India’s IT sector, even as executives frame disruption as an opportunity.
Eleven of the 16 major sectors logged gains. The broader small-caps and mid-caps rose 0.9% and 0.6%, respectively.
Metals gained 2.7%, led by Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Jindal Steel on price-target hikes by CLSA, citing gains from the recent imposition of a safeguard duty and the rise in steel prices.
Vedanta jumped 4.7% after BofA Securities upgraded the shares and raised their price target.
State-owned banks fell 0.4% while the third-heaviest stock in benchmarks, Reliance Industries lost 2.1%.

Technicals: Precious metals climb on safe-haven demand, trade tensions, and bullish technical breakout
Renisha Chainani, head of research at Augmonts, writes – Precious Metal continue its ascent on safe heaven demand
· Safe-haven demand – Precious Metals prices rose as investors sought safety amid renewed uncertainty over U.S. trade policy. The U.S. Supreme Court struck down several tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, ruling he exceeded his authority. In response, Trump pledged to increase import duties to 15%, escalating trade tensions.
· Geopolitical Tensions – The U.S. and Iran are scheduled to hold third round of talks in Geneva this week. While the dialogue suggests diplomatic engagement, lingering uncertainty over Iran’s nuclear programme continues to embed a risk premium in markets, supporting bullion.
· Economic Data – U.S. inflation rose more than expected in December, with indications of further acceleration in January. Persistent inflation could delay Federal Reserve rate cuts, which may cap gold’s upside. However, weaker-than-expected Q4 GDP growth at 1.4% signals economic slowing, which could ultimately reinforce expectations of monetary easing and provide underlying support to gold and silver
Technical Triggers
· As indicated in the previous report, gold has achieved the target of $5200 (~ ₹1,61,000). This technical breakout indicates renewed bullish momentum, with prices now likely targeting the next resistance zones at $5,300 (~ ₹1,64,000) and $5,400 (~ ₹1,67,000).
· As indicated in the previous report, silver has achieved the target of $85 (~ ₹2,60,000). Prices are now gradually approaching the next resistance level of $90 (Rs 269,000) and $92 ( ₹2,75,000).

India’s GDP growth likely at 8.1% in Q3FY26 amid domestic demand boost: SBI report
India’s economy is expected to maintain strong growth momentum, with GDP projected to expand by around 8.1 per cent in the third quarter of the current financial year (FY26), according to a report by the State Bank of India (SBI).
The report highlighted that despite global headwinds, the Indian economy has remained resilient, supported by strong domestic demand and steady economic activity across sectors.
It stated “we expect Q3FY26 real GDP growth of closer to 8.1 per cent”.
According to the report, high-frequency economic indicators suggest resilient economic activity during the third quarter of FY26. Rural consumption has remained strong, supported by positive signals from both farm and non-farm activities.
At the same time, urban consumption has shown a steady improvement, supported by fiscal stimulus and increased spending since the last festive season.
As per the first advance estimates, India’s GDP is projected to grow at 7.4 per cent in FY26, with growth largely driven by domestic demand.
The report emphasised that domestic consumption continues to play a key role in supporting economic expansion despite uncertainties in the global economic environment.
The report also noted that the second advance estimates of GDP for FY26 are scheduled to be released on February 27, 2026. These estimates will incorporate additional data and revisions, and previous quarterly GDP figures for the first and second quarters are expected to change due to the revision in the base year.
India has updated its GDP base year from 2011-12 to 2022-23, with the new series scheduled for release on February 27, 2026. The report stated that, given the significant methodological changes, it is difficult to predict the direction of revisions in the GDP data.
The base year revision is aimed at better reflecting the current structure of the Indian economy, including changes such as the growing role of digital commerce and the services sector.
In addition, India has also updated the base year for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to 2024, which will help provide a more accurate measure of inflation based on current consumption patterns.
Recently, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra also said that the revision of the inflation targeting range following the CPI base year update is under examination and will be considered in the next policy.
“The revised framework would be taken into account in the RBI’s next set of projections to be released during the April monetary policy,” he said.
The report highlighted that strong domestic demand, resilient consumption trends, and ongoing economic activity continue to support India’s growth outlook, even as global economic challenges persist.

However, without significant on-ground operations, AI Apps are more likely to be a demand channel, rather than create a disintermediation risk

Stock recommendation: CITI on DR Reddys
Sell, TP Rs 1070
Novo Nordisk’s announcement of significant 35%/50% reduction in Ozempic/Wegovy prices in US (starting from Jan 2027) is a negative read-through for the generic Semaglutide uptake
Move clearly shows Novo’s aggression when it comes to protecting & expanding volumes & co may opt for similar price cuts in markets like Canada and Brazil, which can limit the uptake of pick up in generics
Novo is already pursuing a dual-brand strategy in these markets to retain its share for Semaglutide, anticipating generic competition this year
Cautious on generic Semaglutide potential for Dr Reddy’s & est. for product (cUS$50m for FY27/28E in Canada) are significantly lower than street expectations

Stock recommendation: MOSL on Polycab
Buy, TP Rs 9600
Management meet takeaways
Channel inventory, which had risen to 40-45 days in 3QFY26 (vs. normal ~21-24 days), normalized within first 20 days of Jan’26 amid strong demand recovery
Co has now passed on entire cost increase (vs 70% in 3Q), driving margin recovery in 4QFY26
Co gained meaningful market share in 9MFY26, growing well ahead of industry, & has reiterated its 1.5x industry growth target till FY30 under Project Spring
Real estate demand remains strong, while affordable housing and the government’s City Economic Region push should further support wire demand.
Exports form 6% of revenue (target 10%+ by FY30)
With reduced tariff, the US and Europe offer incremental opportunities amid the China+1 sourcing shift

Stock recommendation: Nuvama on Pidilite
Buy, TP Rs 1915
Management meet key highlights
i) Targeting ~10% volume growth with near-term EBITDA margin likely to trend toward the upper end of the 20–24% guidance.

iii) Taking calibrated bets in paints (recently entered two–three eastern states), joinery and grouts.
iv) Expanding TAM by foraying into Electronic Adhesives (annual opportunity of INR9–10bn by FY30).

Stock recommendation: Macquarie on OIL & Gas
Remain constructive on Indian OMCs despite macro volatilites, & expect gas companies to benefit from lower natural gas prices in FY27E/28E.
Positive thesis is underpinned by MQ’s bearish outlook on crude / natural gas prices in 2026 (Brent: US$61/bbl; spot LNG: US$9.4/MMBtu).
Prefer HPCL > BPCL > IOCL in OMCs, GAIL > PLNG (Super 6s Tactical Buy Idea) in midstream
MAHGL > IGL in downstream segments
- February 25, 2026 10:25
Stock recommendation: Morgan Stanley on Indian OMCs

Crude sourcing discounts offset higher freight costs and INR depreciation
YTD domestic fuel consumption up 130 kbpd (+2.5% YoY); transport fuels up 4% YoY

IOCL’s full-barrel economics could drive incremental outperformance if crude rises toward USD 72/bbl
Government monetisation of crude and gas storage assets could aid re-rating and value unlocking

Stock recommendation: CLSA on HAL
O-P, TP Rs 5436
Our deep dive into Cos prospects point to orders of US$33bn over FY25-30CL even after it was excluded from India’s 5th generation fighter development race, as expect a repeat order of helicopters & recently cleared Super Sukhoi fully compensate
HAL’s exclusion is only from AMCA 1.0, and it will be eligible to bid for mass production stage.
HAL’s backlog was up 88% YoY in FY25, & forecast it to reach US$28bn by FY27, with its US$3.6bn helicopter order receiving government ok, improving visibility of this order in FY27 itself. HAL has strongest pipeline of orders & 14 years of backlog, making it our preferred pick
See start of Mk1A fighter deliveries in 2Q 2026, visibility on GE engine deliveries & GE 414 MII production deal as key catalysts
HAL is cheapest pure-play defence stock despite its sector-leading compelling position.

Stock recommendation: CLSA on TCS
O-P, TP Rs 3593
TCS has partnered with ServiceNow to accelerate large-scale AI adoption for enterprises
ServiceNow has grown strongly, 20.5% YoY CC in FY25, and guided for a 19.5%-20% YoY CC growth for FY26 backed by a strong orderbook implying similar growth for SIs around SaaS implementation having strong partnerships with these platforms.
ServiceNow has partnered with foundation model companies like Anthropic and OpenAI which improves the customer experience on the platform
Note TechM has strongest ServiceNow capabilities across Indian & global peers

Stock recommendation: MS on Adani Power
OW, TP Rs 173
APL (operating capacity: 18.15GW) has received a Letter of Award (LoA) for supplying 558 MW (net) at a tariff of Rs5.91 from Tamil Nadu discom.
Power will be supplied from Moxie Power Generation Ltd (2*600MW), located in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, for five years w.e.f Apr 1, 2026
Now, both units of the Moxie plant have power supply agreements, & >95% of APL’s total operating capacity is secured with medium to long-term contracts
APL aims to achieve nearly 100% PPA tie-up for all operational and undercommissioning plants over the coming years
Tariff is broadly in line with recent PPA bids; await color from management on EBITDA
- February 25, 2026 10:23
Stock recommendation: Jefferies on Adani Enterprises
Recommendation: Buy, Target: ₹2750
FY27 as key ramp-up year
Led by scale up at airports (particularly Navi Mumbai Airport), copper (smelter utilization) and roads (Ganga Expressway)
New industries will focus on solar manufacturing expansion
Recent capital raise will strengthen balance sheet
Data Centre — Targeting 210 MW capacity over 18–20 months
Playbook remains incubate to scale using operating leverage

Sectoral recommendation: Macquarie on Metals
JSW Steel – O-P – TP Rs 1319; adding as Marquee Buy idea
Believe India steel price risk is skewed to upside near term, reflecting
a) view that domestic steel demand remains strong, with 7-8% YoY growth YTD FY26
b) prices are at modest 1-2% premium to import parity despite a 9% hike in domestic steel prices since mid-Dec 25 (helped by a 12% safeguard duty on steel imports for three years)
This compares with average 5-7% premium over last three years & supports view of a Rs1-1.5k/ton steel price hike near term
- February 25, 2026 10:23
Sectoral recommendation: CLSA on Steel
Valuation re-rating for steel stocks to continue
Margins for consuming sectors (autos/durables) could come under pressure
Indian HRC prices are up 18% from Dec lows with rebar prices up a lot more
Jindal Steel likely to benefit most on higher long steel exposure
JSW Steel — Raise to Hold from Underperform — target price hiked from ₹930 to ₹1200/share
Jindal Steel — Maintain Outperform — target price hiked from ₹1180 to ₹1375/share
Tata — Maintain Hold — target price hiked from ₹205 to ₹220/share
- February 25, 2026 10:22
Sectoral recommendation: CITI On Metals
Initiate a pair trade with OW Vedanta / UW JSW Steel
JTSL appears to be trading at 9x EV/EBITDA, likely suggesting more optimism vs. spot
Likelihood of further upsides is low
(1) steel prices are close to import parity;
(2) steel capacities are lumpy.
Vedanta, on other hand, could rally into demerger
At 5.5x attributable EV/EBITDA and spot commodity prices—aluminium $3,070, zinc $3,325, silver $88—there may be around 15% upside
- February 25, 2026 10:22
Stock recommendation: BoFA Sec on Hindustan Zinc
U-P, TP Rs 520
Raise FY27E-28E EBITDA forecasts by 8-15% as incorporate higher silver price forecasts
Reiterate Underperform as
(i) valuation at 10x one‑year‑forward EV/EBITDA remains expensive & (ii) our global commodities team remains bearish on zinc prices (CY26E: US$2,938/t and CY27E: US$2,500/t vs spot prices of US$3,382/t).
- February 25, 2026 10:22
Stock recommendation: BoFA Sec on Hindalco
Buy, TP Rs 1050
Raise FY28E EBITDA forecasts by 6% as incorporate higher aluminium forecasts
- February 25, 2026 10:22
Stock recommendation: BoFA Sec on Vedanta
Upgrade to Buy from Neutral, TP Raised to Rs 840 from Rs 480
Upgrade given bullish view on aluminium, supportive silver prices, & a healthy dividend yield (FY27E: +6%)
Moreover, significant deleveraging at parent company minimizes risk of an increase in brand‑fee rates or inter‑corporate loans
Raise FY26E-28E EBITDA by 16-21% as incorporate
(i) higher aluminium forecasts,
(ii) higher fair value of HZ
(iii) USD‑INR depreciation
(iv) a reduced holding‑co discount of 5% (vs 15% earlier)
- February 25, 2026 10:20
Stock recommendation: Nomura on Lloyd Metals
Initiate Buy, TP Rs 1600
Supported by low-cost iron ore assets to 2057, vertical integration into steel, predictable (MDO) earnings, & diversification into copper, LMEL is transitioning from a pure-play miner to a more stable, diversified & less cyclical business model
Estimate LMEL will generate consolidated EBITDA of Rs109bn by FY28F vs Rs19bn in FY25, implying a 77% CAGR
Stock is currently trading at 8.6x
Risks
(1) a delay in steel capacity;
(2) political unrest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo affecting copper business;
(3) BHQ beneficiation not yielding the same results as seen in pilot project
(4) resurfacing of Naxal activities.

Market analysis by Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com
Bitcoin steadied near $66,000 on Wednesday after a choppy two-day stretch that kept the market pinned in its now-familiar $60,000-$70,000 range. Trading dashboards showed BTC at about $66,002, with Ether near $1,928, BNB around $601, Solana near $82, and XRP about $1.39 during the session.
The flow picture into the US spot Bitcoin ETFs remains mixed. Data compiled by Farside Investors show net outflows of $203.8 million on February 23, followed by a net inflow of $178.8 million on February 24. This is definitely a sharp reversal but not yet a decisive turn in the broader trend of soft institutional demand.
On positioning and ‘the tape feeling heavy,’ multiple analysts’ desks reported that whale selling had increased and that recent buyers were locking in losses as BTC dipped under $65,000. That matches the market’s price behaviour of rallies meeting supply quickly. On the other side, dips have not yet triggered capitulation-level liquidation.
Technically, the market is still trading around well-watched pivots. A sustained break below $60,000 is widely framed as a downside trigger, with ~$57,500 cited as the next notable level. Conversely, reclaiming $72,000-$75,000 would be a cleaner signal that risk appetite is returning.
Macro remains the key overhang. Fed commentary has kept rate expectations fluid. Fed Governor Christopher Waller described a March decision as a ‘coin flip.’ The calendar is dense too, with the February CPI (US) due for March 11. The next Fed decision window is the March 17-18 FOMC meeting. Both these are potential volatility catalysts for crypto.
Our advice: Investors and traders should avoid leveraged longs near range highs and size spot exposure conservatively. This is especially so because of the ongoing ETF flow volatility and evidence of large-holder distribution. For accumulation strategies, stagger entries closer to structural supports rather than chasing momentum. Any sustained move above $75,000 with improving ETF inflows would warrant reassessing risk exposure. Until then, capital preservation should take priority over return optimisation.

Bitcoin holds key support, eyes $70,000 as short covering and inflows boost crypto market—Pi42 CEO
“Bitcoin’s ability to stabilise above the key $65,000 to $67,000 zone, even as markets grapple with uncertainty, reflects structural resilience. After a stretch of corrective pressure that dragged prices near $64,000, the recent strength in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the broader crypto market appears to be driven by short covering and renewed inflows into digital assets. Developments such as Trump’s address to Congress and the Jane Street lawsuit have helped improve sentiment. The persistence of extreme fear sentiment alongside this rebound suggests that the current phase is more about technical repositioning than outright capitulation. If Bitcoin holds above the $67,000 level and sustains momentum, it could clear resistance toward $70,000 and potentially set the stage for a fresh push toward $75,000 and beyond.” – Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42

Stock Markets Live: Jane Street posts record $10 billion trading revenue, faces insider trading lawsuit amid India ban and Terra collapse scrutiny
Jane Street made $10 billion in trading revenue in a single quarter.
For scale reference- thats more than Goldman, JP Morgan, Citi, or Bank of America managed in the same period
They got banned from India’s stock market last year for manipulating a national index. They seized $570 million and called them “not a good faith actor that deserves to be trusted”
Today they’re being sued for insider trading that helped trigger the $40b Terra collapse.
And because they’re classified as a trading firm and not a hedge fund, they’re exempt from the disclosure rules that would force them to show you how they actually make their money.
