Konami is bringing Metal Gear Solid 4 to PC and consoles later this year, finally ditching PlayStation 3 exclusivity.

Konami made an appearance at the State of Play showcase earlier today, and that was to announce a brand-new Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection. Fans may remember that the first edition of this bundle landed back in 2023, containing a bunch of classic entries from the popular action stealth series. The newly announced second volume has three games inside it, and most importantly, one of them is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 officially packages together Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel.
Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 4 was originally released for the PlayStation 3 back in 2008 and has so far remained stuck on the platform. With the release of this new collection, it will be available across PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
“In an era where PMCs (private military companies) have risen to the top, war has become a business and the driving force behind the world economy,” says Konami, describing the classic title’s setting. “Controlling the top five PMCs from behind the scenes is Liquid Ocelot, who fanning the flames of war even further, plans an insurrection with the goal of creating a world where warriors can lead fulfilling lives—a goal shared by none other than Big Boss. Under the theme of “Sense” watch as the final battle of the man with Big Boss’s genes, Solid Snake, unfolds.”
Internal resolution improvements, higher maximum frame rates, and remappable controls have been confirmed as new features for this new version as well.
As for the other releases of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be the PS3 HD Collection version of the PSP original. Its co-op and versus multiplayer modes will be fully functional as well.
Lastly, Metal Gear: Ghost Babel is the 2000-released Game Boy Color installment. This edition is set to improve on the original with screen filters, a rewind function, and more features.
Konami said that having save data from the first Master Collection will grant players in-game usable items in Metal Gear Solid 4 and Peace Walker as well. Moreover, books containing insights into the story and characters will be included with the collection alongside the games’ soundtracks.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will be releasing on August 27, 2026.
