Westmorland County Agricultural Society Ltd has applied for a ‘conference facility’ at Lane Farm, Crooklands, Milnthorpe.
The consultation date ends on January 15.
The society is described as a ‘no-profit organisation/ charity’ in the application.
The application reads: “The licence holder will ensure that all staff are aware of their social and legal obligations and their responsibilities regarding the sale of alcohol.”
Challenge 25 will also be in operation on the premises.
The only acceptable proof of age identification shall be a current passport, photo card driving licence or identification carrying the PASS logo or military ID.
Westmorland County Agricultural Society was founded in 1799 before becoming a registered charity in 1996.
According to its website, ‘the Westmorland County Agricultural Society is dedicated to promoting the understanding and prosperity of agriculture, horticulture, conservation, forestry, rural crafts and allied industry’.
Its focus is ‘concentrated within a radius of 55 miles of the society’s base’.
The agricultural society is responsible for Westmorland County Show, which is held annually in September and is one of the largest county shows in England.
The website reads: “It is a chance for visitors to explore the best of what the countryside has to offer and to discover more about farming, food and the countryside around us.”
