Major UK energy provider says customers will save £150 next year

    December 16, 20252 Mins Read

The firm has confirmed it will pass savings on to customers

Another major energy supplier has revealed plans to deliver savings to customers in 2026. This follows Chancellor Rachel Reeves‘ commitment during her Autumn Budget to address spiralling energy bills “at the source”.

E.ON Next has pledged that its customers will receive the complete benefit of the Government’s energy reductions from April. The firm confirmed after the Budget that it would pass on the entire savings and has now released updated guidance detailing precisely how customers will benefit.

The supplier’s stance is straightforward: the reductions will be transferred, and this includes households on fixed tariffs. E.ON Next has emphasised that customers need take no action – the reduced costs will be automatically applied to bills from April.

An E.ON Next spokesperson said: “When these savings start in April, we’ll pass them on in full to all our customers. No ifs. No buts. No small print. People are under pressure and they deserve to feel the benefit directly on their bills.”

E.ON Next expects average households to save approximately £150 a year. Elsewhere Octopus Energy has pledged to transfer Autumn Budget benefits directly to its customers, with bill reductions from April 1, as has British Gas.

Greg Jackson, CEO and Founder of Octopus Energy, said: “Octopus has long called for cuts in policy costs to help bring bills down, so we are delighted to see the government taking action. These changes will bring a welcome relief to customers, and we’ll pass them through on all of our tariffs as soon as they kick in, so no one misses out.

“Octopus customers can rest easy – we’ll do it all automatically. We hope other suppliers will follow our lead so everyone can benefit.”

A British Gas spokesperson said: “We welcome the Government’s steps to ease energy costs as we’ve called for these levies to be moved into general taxation for some time. We’ll of course ensure all our customers benefit – including those on fixed-term tariffs.”
