The southern-based contractor, which recently open an office in Scotland, said buoyant demand in the energy, coastal defence and ports sectors underpinned the rise, alongside early gains from new water frameworks ahead of the AMP8 investment cycle.
Operating margin held steady at just over 3% while cash at bank in the year to March 2025 surged to £13.1m from £4.4m, leaving the business well positioned to expand in 2026.
Group managing director Kevin Valentine said: “Our energy and coastal engineering divisions continue to deliver strong performance, and with the water sector gearing up for significant investment, we expect further diversification and growth.”
The firm has also opened a new regional office in Dunfermline to strengthen its presence in Scotland and support the delivery of renewable energy infrastructure across the country.
Knights Brown recently started work on a major coastal flood protection scheme in Paignton and Preston for Torbay Council. The multi-year project will protect more than 350 homes and businesses through tiered sea defences, upgraded public spaces and better coastal access, completing in summer 2027.
The firm also recently won a £29m contract to deliver the last missing piece of Poole’s waterfront tidal defences in Dorset.
