ACCI unveils 2025 FarmfaTech Expo to drive food sovereignty through innovation

    November 1, 20253 Mins Read

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has announced the second edition of the Farm, Food and Allied Technology (FARMFATECH) Expo 2025, aimed at transforming Nigeria’s food systems through mechanisation, innovation and sustainable technology.

The Expo, organised in collaboration with Autodex Nigeria Limited, Afreximbank, and other partners, is scheduled to take place from November 10 to 12, 2025, at the Velodrome, National Stadium, Abuja.Announcing the event, the President of the ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, said the second edition builds on the success of the inaugural expo and reinforces the Chamber’s vision to strengthen collaboration and knowledge exchange between Nigeria, China and other global partners in advancing agricultural innovation.

“This year’s Expo builds upon the success of the inaugural edition and reinforces our collective vision to strengthen collaboration and knowledge exchange in advancing agricultural innovation and sustainability,” Obegolu said.

“It will showcase cutting-edge agro mechanisation technologies, food processing solutions and value chain innovations, creating a platform for stakeholders to explore investment opportunities, forge partnerships and catalyse business growth in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

”According to the Chamber, the three-day event will feature over 500 exhibitors, 76 participating countries and an estimated 500,000 visitors, expanding access to agricultural technology and promoting food security nationwide.

Obegolu explained that the Expo is driven by ACCI’s Agriculture Trade Group, one of the Chamber’s 16 sector based groups, which plays a key role in promoting agricultural growth and private sector participation. He reaffirmed ACCI’s commitment to economic diversification and sustainable development through its four centres: the Business Entrepreneurship Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre, Abuja Trade Centre (ATC), National Policy Advocacy Centre (NPAC) and the Nigerian Chamber of Commerce Dispute Resolution Centre (NCC DRC).

“The agricultural sector remains a vital pillar of Nigeria’s economy,” he said. “Through our Agriculture Trade Group, we continue to champion the interests of farmers, agribusinesses and investors by promoting policies, technologies and partnerships that sustain productivity and resilience.

”Responding to questions on the implications of Nigeria’s new tax law and its possible effects on the Chamber’s operations and agricultural innovation, Obegolu said ACCI supports taxation only when it serves productive purposes.

“What we fight is multiple taxation. What we advocate against is uncertainty, uncertainty in the system. What we fight against is the non-application of funds for purposes of development.

So if we have tax, and the tax monies are raised and used to develop our base, agricultural, educational or infrastructural, it is useful,” he said.

Also speaking, Prince Tony Afam Ifeakandu, Managing Director of Autodex Nigeria Limited, highlighted the company’s commitment to agricultural mobility and clean energy solutions.

“At Autodex, we believe food security is inseparable from productive mechanisation and smart logistics,” he said. “Our role is to empower farmers with efficient machinery and clean energy mobility solutions that reduce costs, improve yields and accelerate access to markets.

”He added that Autodex would showcase new innovations including hybrid and electric tricycles, motorbikes and utility vehicles, alongside battery swap infrastructure to strengthen agricultural logistics and market access.“Our mission is simple: equip farmers to produce more, move faster and earn better, because a food secure Nigeria must be powered by innovation,” Ifeakandu stated.

The ACCI said the FARMFATECH Expo would serve as a meeting point for policymakers, investors and stakeholders to deliberate on practical solutions to Nigeria’s food production challenges and strengthen the resilience of the nation’s agricultural economy.
