A heavy metal artist has died.
News of the musician’s passing was announced by his former band members. His death occurred just a few days after his birthday.
According to Suggest, John Waterhouse — who was once the guitarist for Demon, a beloved British heavy metal band formed in the 1970s — died earlier this month. Hellpress states that Waterhouse was 75 years old.
“It’s with a great sadness we announce the passing of Demon legend John Waterhouse a few days after his birthday,” reads a post published to the Demon Facebook page. “He was surrounded by his loved ones.
“John was a massive part of the Demon family, playing on six studio albums and contributing his trademark sound to classic albums like ‘Breakout’ and ‘Taking the World by Storm.’ Sleep tight, John, and enjoy a jam with [guitarist and Demon co-founder] Mal [Spooner]…’Time Has Come.’”
“Very sad to hear this news,” a commenter wrote. “John was a lovely bloke and a most underrated guitarist.
“He got notes out of that guitar that no one should have been able to get. His solo on ‘Time Has Come’ is astonishing. Sad times.”
“John was the most talented of musicians… his knowledge of not just the guitar, of which he was one of the finest I’ve ever had the privilege to listen to and play with, but to the intricacies of musical structure in general was something else,” reads another Facebook post.
