The team at Newbury Showground are expanding their education outputs with not just one new member of staff…
Newbury and District Agricultural Society (NADAS) has welcomed a new assistant education officer to increase the work it carries out in schools.
Harriet Charters will be working alongside the staff on the education team to educate even more young people about agriculture.
They have also added two new employees to assist hert: Susie the wooden sheep and Daffodil the wooden chicken.
The ‘animals’ will be taken by ex-geography and environmental sciences teacher Ms Charters into schools to help teach pupils all about farming and the environment.
She holds a degree in ecology from Cardiff University and a masters in wildlife conservation from Bristol University.
She has also taught geography and environmental sciences at state and independent schools.
“What has remained constant through all these chapters is my passion for the natural world and my commitment to inspiring others to appreciate and care for it,” she said.
“That’s why I was so drawn to this role with NADAS – it brings together my love for animals, education, and the countryside in a way that feels incredibly meaningful.”
