Snake Eater Patch 1.1.3 Adds New Features, But Performance Struggles Remain

    September 5, 20252 Mins Read

One of the biggest concerns following the launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the remake of the iconic PS2 classic, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, was the game’s performance.

A large number of people online warned players to wait for a patch to alleviate frame rate and performance hiccups.

Inexplicably, it seemed to perform the worst on the PS5 Pro, a system that should, in theory, offer the best console performance on the market. A Digital Foundry examination deduced the following:

It’s a surprise to find that performance is a lesser priority for Konami on PS5 consoles at least…Based on the evidence here, there’s a lot to address in performance terms, with the PS5 Pro edition being the most in need of attention.

While a new update is on the way for Metal Gear Solid Delta, those hoping for an improvement on the game’s performance will have to keep waiting.

    Metal Gear Solid Delta

Despite the most recent update for Metal Gear Solid Delta not fixing the game’s performance, it’s something Konami is aware of.

The team apologized for the issues players are experiencing, and is looking to address the following issues specifically:

    • Support for 21:9 aspect ratio displays (excluding demo scenes) on Steam.
    • An in-game feature to check system specifications on Steam.
    • Option to select a preferred rendering mode when playing on PlayStation 5 Pro.
    • Improvements to overall performance stability on all platforms.

While it’s frustrating to wait for performance issues to be resolved, it’s nice to see that the developers are aware of the problems. That positive feeling is felt in the game’s subreddit as well, with a majority of people expressing optimism for the game to turn things around.

As for what is in the update, here’s a rundown of what’s been addressed in Ver 1.1.3

    • Fixed an issue where players might not receive the reward for collecting all GA-KO.
    • Updated textures and models in certain scenes.
    • Resolved most issues that could cause the game to crash after investigating received reports.
    • Minor bug fixes and adjustments.
    • Added Inverted Camera Look (Horizontal) option. (This setting can be found in the Options menu under Controls.)
