Bowers & Jones, based in Bilston, has successfully achieved ISO 14001 accreditation which is presented to organisations with effective environmental management systems and processes in place to reduce their environmental footprint.

The ISO 14001 accreditation recognises businesses which ensure they implement measures to minimise their environmental footprint, comply with relevant legal requirements and achieve their green objectives.
The framework for securing the standard encompasses resource usage and waste management through to monitoring environmental performance and involving stakeholders in environmental commitments.
Bowers & Jones managing director Jane Sommerville said: “Achieving ISO 14001certification represents a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.
“As a business that has been serving customers for 70 years, we recognise our duty to minimise our environmental impact while continuing to deliver the high-quality roll tooling and rolling mill products our customers depend on.
“This certification demonstrates the environmental management systems we have implemented and reflects our dedication to sustainable manufacturing practices as we continue to grow our operations in the UK, Europe, North America and beyond.”
Serving more than 300 customers across the UK, North America, Europe, and beyond, Bowers & Jones are world leaders in the design, manufacture and refurbishment of roll tooling and rolling mill products.

The business specialises in the manufacture of tools used to roll long products such as welded and seamless tube and pipe, steel sections and complex copper extrusions. More recently, rolls are used in the manufacture of non-steel applications including electrical conduction and heating cable.
Originally established in 1955, Bowers & Jones was acquired by Jane Sommerville and Nicola Owen and James Owen in 2020 and is growing on the back of four years of turnover growth, with significant growth set to continue with new contracts secured in the USA.
In May this year the firm was awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise in the international trade category in recognition of its significant growth in exports – with 80 per cent of the firm’s sales now coming from international markets.
The directors were invited to a Royal celebratory event at Windsor Castle after receiving news of the accolade – a globally recognised mark of achievement and the highest official UK award for British businesses.
The award will be officially presented by one of his Majesty The King’s Lord Lieutenants at an event on September 19.
