Ever wondered what Doom would have felt like if instead of fighting hordes of demons, you were taking on an army of robots whose sole purpose is to stop you from saving humanity? Well, if you have and wanted to play something with this theme, then Metal Eden might just be the game for you.
This game takes inspiration from popular titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Metroid Prime, Titanfall, and others in the genre, both for its gameplay and theme, and players love it for this. Our review, along with many others’, explains why it deserves the praise it is getting. But if that isn’t enough, you can check out its player reviews on Steam, which, at the time of writing this article, is Very Positive.
Currently, Metal Eden has 143 reviews on Steam, and 94% of them are positive. Here are some things that players like about it:
Steam user Liquidcyberpunk said, “Music that pulls from early 90’s techno/ Atari Teenage Riot /Future Sound of London– then blossoms into a synth grinding Doom inspired Cyberpunk cream donut.”
N7Witcher343 said, “Gunplay is fantastic. Love the music and the maps. I wish the story was longer with a new game plus option. Hopefully we will get dlc. Great game with no technical issues. 120 fps epic settings flawlessly.”
Of course, this wouldn’t be an Unreal Engine 5 game without performance issues, and one of the negative reviews came from user ramdjow, who said, “Not well optimized. Feels a lot like the demo in that regard. I have a 3070 ti. Tinkered with every possible graphics setting. Drivers are updated. Every single upscaling method was tested – the best being dlss in balanced or performance mode, but in those there was still stuttering and the game looked awful. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to make a good fps game in 2025.”
But giving credit where credit is due, despite being built on UE5, it doesn’t suffer nearly half the issues as a lot of the other games made on this engine do. And if they go the Konami route with MGS Delta and deliver an update that addresses performance issues, it won’t be a surprise that players change their negative reviews, and the game goes from Very Positive to Overwhelmingly Positive.
