Best Metal Gear Solid Delta mods

    August 28, 20255 Mins Read

What are the best Metal Gear Solid Delta mods? Metal Gear Solid 3 may be one of the greatest games ever made, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved upon with mods. That goes double for MGS Delta due to the number of issues with the game’s performance, making it a pain to run on low-end rigs.

As we highlighted in our Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater review, the PC port of the stealth game clearly has some major issues that need to be addressed. From the game not supporting ultrawide aspect ratios to the inclusion of a 60fps cap, the devs should’ve dealt with these problems before the game launched. Don’t worry, all hope is not lost. We’ve found the best Metal Gear Solid Delta mods to improve your performance and gameplay experience.

Here are the best MGS Delta mods:

    • MGSDeltaFix
    • Camera Tweaks
    • Laser Sights
    • Tranq Gun Tweaks
    • End Game Save
    • Ultra Performance Boost
    • Frame Generation

    MGSDeltaFix

The mod every MGS Delta player was waiting for, Lyall’s MGSDeltaFix mod has everything you’d hope Konami would’ve included in the base version of the game. Just as the name promises, this mod allows you to remove the 60fps cap, adds support for ultrawide (and narrower) aspect ratios, and lets you skip all the intro logos when starting up the game.

There are some issues that need to be worked out, including enabling support for these fixes while using fullscreen, giving you access to HDR if your gaming monitor supports it. Lyall has noted that the 60fps cap can introduce some bugs, but they’re working on a solution to this that allows you to enable and disable the cap while in-game.

    Camera Tweaks

A sign of a quality PC port is the ability to tweak field of view settings, something MGS Delta lacks. Fortunately, Caites’ Camera Tweaks mod allows you to adjust the FOV for both the primary camera view and aiming down sights perspective. If you find the default view to be somewhat claustrophobic, you can pull the camera back to gain a better view of your surroundings.

    Laser Sights

The Cold War era wasn’t known for its massive array of gadgets, and the lack of a decent gunsight is going to make Snake’s mission considerably more difficult to accomplish. While you can rely on iron sights, there’s nothing like a good laser sight to help you land your shots. With SilverEzredes’ Laser Sights mod, you can add this helpful attachment to all of your weapons to drastically improve your accuracy.

    Tranq Gun Tweaks

The original tranquilizer gun in MGS 3 was incredibly powerful, bordering on overpowered as it allowed you to snipe enemies from across the map. The new play style introduced in Delta makes it easy to take down patrolling soldiers, so the devs decided to give the tranq gun some bullet drop to counteract this. Using Caites’ Tranq Gun Tweaks mod, you can tone down this effect by making the weapon hitscan again or make the weapon worse by reducing its effective range.

    End Game Save

Finding all the GA-KO and Kerotan collectibles will most likely take you multiple playthroughs, and while the rewards on offer are certainly tempting, you could just use TheMulticulturalist’s End Game Save instead. This is perfect for anyone who has already played through MGS 3 in the past, giving you instant access to the Stealth Camo and Infinity Facepaint (unlimited ammo).

    Ultra Performance Boost

MGS Delta looks absolutely stunning, but all that beauty comes at a heavy performance cost. It can be difficult to get the game running at a consistent frame rate on mid-range machines, let alone something like a handheld gaming PC.

If you really want to experience MGS Delta and are willing to do anything to get the game running, you can use MAK Moderator’s Ultra Performance Boost mod to reduce the visuals to their limit without breaking the game. The creator says while they could’ve eliminated things like shadows, this would’ve created large empty black voids in the environment, and that doesn’t sound too appealing to us…

    Frame Generation

Like most of the issues with the MGS Delta PC port, there are some glaring omissions that leave us scratching our heads, with frame generation being near the top of that list. EternalAsura’s Frame Generation mod is practically essential for anyone trying to lift the 60fps cap, granting Nvidia users (specifically ones with RTX 4000 and 5000 series cards) the ability to boost their frame rate with this incredible graphics tool.

Using this hand-picked list of the best Metal Gear Solid Delta mods, you can revel in the community’s hard work with all the excellent gameplay tweaks on offer.
