A Nigerian-born investment banker and financial scholar, Kehinde Abiodun, said he is contributing significantly to the growth of digital infrastructure in the United States through high-impact advisory work on Wall Street.
Abiodun currently serves as an investment banking associate at Evercore Inc., a global independent advisory firm. He is said to be leading mergers and acquisitions advisory for major transactions within the telecommunications and digital infrastructure sectors.
Abiodun said in a note shared with The PUNCH that his work involves capital raising for large-scale broadband initiatives such as data centres, fibre-optic networks, and small-cell deployments aimed at expanding connectivity in underserved communities across North America.
The expert explained that his involvement in digital infrastructure was driven not only by financial goals but also by a desire to promote equitable access to information, education, and economic opportunity.
He stated that many communities had long been left behind, and expanding infrastructure was essential to closing that gap.
Abiodun, who was born in Nigeria, began his academic journey at Covenant University, where he graduated as the Best Student in Accounting and Business.
He later earned a Master of Science in Finance and Investments from Durham University, UK, and an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, where he reportedly led efforts to recruit African students into the programme.
The expert noted that his academic background, combined with technical expertise in tax structuring, financial modelling, and securities advisory, had helped position him as a growing influence in international finance.
He remarked that in every transaction he supported, his objective was to align precision in execution with a broader purpose, ensuring that capital was used efficiently while supporting technological advancement.
Beyond his advisory role at Evercore, Abiodun is also active in academic circles. He has written scholarly articles on blockchain logistics, AI-driven financial modelling, and central bank digital currencies.
The articles, according to him, have been published in journals such as the Finance & Accounting Research Journal and the International Journal of Scientific Research and Modern Technology.
In March 2025, he was named the Overall Best Reviewer by IJSRMT, an accolade that recognised his efforts in maintaining the quality and integrity of global financial research.
Abiodun explained that peer reviewing allowed him to quietly but significantly contribute to the advancement of academic knowledge.
He is also reported to sit on the editorial boards of several international journals spanning finance, science, and engineering.
In addition, through the Evercore Foundation, he supports first-generation high school students in New York by offering career mentorship, CV-writing workshops, and professional development guidance.
