Mullingar Agricultural and Trade Show has been a major event in the local calendar for close to two centuries now, and it remains a vital part of the social and commercial life of north Westmeath.
This year’s show is on Sunday July 13, and it will feature the customary huge variety of attractions. As people who frequent the show will know, it’s about much more than agriculture, and there will be live music all day, including stars such as Robert Mizzell, and Camillus Egerton and Heads Up.
Line dancing, fashion show, best dressed lady competition, dog show, cookery demo, sheep shearing, a Cossack rider, wrestling, a blacksmith display, sean-nós dancing, face painting, trade stands and indoor and outdoor catering are among the attractions.
