    Indian Council of Agricultural Research gives Marathwada agriculture university ‘A’ grade

    Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University in Parbhani received an ‘A Grade’ accreditation from the National Agricultural Education Accreditation Board of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Vice-Chancellor Dr Indra Mani said the university achieved a score of 3.21 out of 4.00, securing the ‘A Grade’ certification, valid until March 2028.“Among different agricultural universities in Maharashtra, our university currently stands top, considering the evaluation outcome by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The recognition officially endorses the university’s milestones achieved in education, research, extension, and infrastructural development,” he told TOI. Mani noted that this accreditation enhances the university’s academic standing nationally and will create additional opportunities for students seeking quality agricultural education.The Marathwada university has implemented numerous successful initiatives in the past two years, improving its performance across academic, research, extension and infrastructure sectors. These improvements included enhanced student facilities, implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and updated curriculum.Notable developments include the creation of the Maharashtra Farm Mechanisation Centre, skills training programmes in advanced mechanisation with CSR support, and the establishment of a Common Incubation Centre (CIC) for sugar cane product value addition to support entrepreneurship. The institution leads in agricultural drone technology adoption, providing a six-month professional course on ‘Drones in Agriculture’, establishing a hiring centre, and developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for agricultural drone applications.“Several new collaborative research projects were initiated in partnership with reputed national and international institutions. The development of 2,500 acres of barren land led to a significant boost in quality breeder seed production,” Mani said.
