    Russi’s agricultural production rises by 1.7% in January-February 2025 – Business & Economy

    MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. Agricultural production in Russia increased by 1.7% in January-February 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year, according to a report by the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on the country’s socio-economic situation.

    At the same time, agricultural output in February 2025 rose by 1.4% year-on-year.

    As of the end of February 2025, the total cattle population across all agricultural producers was estimated at 16.4 mln head, marking a 4.4% decline compared to the corresponding date in the previous year, including 7.2 mln dairy cows. The pig population stood at 28.2 mln, while the number of sheep and goats reached 19.1 mln.

    Production of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) across all categories of farms decreased by 0.1% year-on-year in January-February 2025, amounting to 2.5 mln metric tons. Meanwhile, milk production increased by 0.9% to 4.8 mln metric tons, and egg production rose by 3.7% to 7.2 bln units.
