How Kilimotech Chatbot is transforming Tanzania’s agricultural sector

    March 16, 20252 Mins Read

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s agricultural sector is undergoing a technological revolution with the introduction of Kilimotech Chatbot, an AI-powered assistant designed to support farmers and livestock keepers nationwide.

Founded by a tech entrepreneur and Executive Director at TechForward Tanzania, Elias Patrick, the innovative solution is transforming how farmers access essential agricultural information.

Available on WhatsApp, Kilimotech Chatbot offers farmers instant answers on best farming practices, market access, and financing opportunities, empowering them with the knowledge needed to enhance productivity and profitability.

Patrick says he decided to come up with the innovation after recognizing that while agriculture remains the backbone of Tanzania’s economy, yet many farmers struggle with limited access to expert advice, unreliable market information, and financial barriers.

“Kilimotech Chatbot is addressing these challenges by providing expert guidance on crop production, soil health and disease control. It also provides market insights to help farmers sell their produce at competitive prices,” he says.

The Kilimotech Chatbot, says Patrick, also helps farmers with connections to financial opportunities for business growth. It also provides the service of AI-powered disease detection through image analysis. Farmers, he says, can simply type “Picha” or “Chunguza,” upload an image, and receive an instant diagnosis.

By harnessing artificial intelligence and natural language processing, Kilimotech Chatbot ensures seamless, real-time interactions with farmers in both Swahili and English, making it an inclusive tool for all.

“Technology is the key to unlocking the full potential of agriculture in Tanzania,” says Patrick. “With Kilimotech Chatbot, we are putting expert agricultural advice into every farmer’s pocket, helping them make informed decisions and boost productivity.”

As the agricultural sector embraces this groundbreaking technology, Kilimotech Chatbot is poised to revolutionise farming practices in Tanzania, improving yields and economic outcomes for farmers across the nation.
