Woodbridge High School to begin using metal detectors at athletic events

    August 23, 20242 Mins Read

GREENWOOD, Del. – Woodbridge High School is implementing metal detectors at all football games this season.

All spectators will be required to pass through a metal detector to be admitted into the stadium. Those who are not able to use a walk-through metal detector will be screened with handheld metal detectors. Spectators who do not consent to metal detection screening will be denied energy.

Spectators are asked to follow all instructions provided by the gate security screening staff. Large metal objects such as phones, keys, and cameras should be placed in containers provided by security before passing through the metal detector with their hands raised above their shoulders. If a metal object is detected, a secondary screening with a handheld metal detector will be conducted.

Anyone found in possession of a prohibited item will be asked to take the item to their vehicle and be re-screened before entry. All illegal items, including knives, firearms, or other weapons, will be confiscated and turned over to Delaware State Police for investigation.

No refunds will be given to those refusing to undergo metal detection screenings, and re-entry to games is not allowed. No one will be allowed to enter the stadium after the 3rd quarter.

One small purse and one clear plastic tote or clear gallon-sized storage bag are allowed. Prohibited items include all large bags or containers larger than a small purse, backpacks/bookbags, and coolers. Spectators may be asked to open their permitted bags for inspection by security before entering the stadium.

The first home game is Thursday, August 29th.
