If incumbent Aidan O’Connell during the training camp and preseason battle, it probably won’t be much. If veteran free-agent addition Gardner Minshew prevails, the number will be likely be much higher.
Minshew is much more mobile than O’Connell and he excels when going off script. The 2023 numbers back it up.
According to a recent tweet by Dov Kleiman, Raiders’ quarterbacks scrambled just nine times during the 2023 season. It was the second lowest total in the league. O’Connell started 10 games for the Raiders.
Minshew started 13 games for the Indianapolis Colts, which had 29 quarterback scrambles. Here is the full list:
